2015 Annual Report
Larry Calkins, CPPG
Larry has work for the Seaway Valley Prevention Council for 28 years. He worked as a health educator from 1988-1996, a Program Director from 1996-2006 and the Council Director since 2006. Larry enjoys his job thoroughly, enjoys working with people and being a part of the solution. When he is not working, he enjoys being with his wife and children. He also enjoys mowing the lawn.
Kate has worked for the Seaway Valley Prevention Council for three years. Kate has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in English and a Master’s degree in Literacy. Kate mans the website, co-organizes the Northern Tier Providers Coalition Conference and manages the office. Outside of work, Kate loves to spend time with family and to read!
Raisha is the Business Manager of Seaway Valley Prevention Council. She has a Bachelor’s degree from Clarkson University in Accounting. Her position within the council is unique as she is a shared employee with two other agencies and work within the tri-county area. She has been with the Council for six years. In her free time she enjoys making all kinds of crafts and camping.
Patti Hogle, CPPG
Patti has been with the Seaway Valley Prevention Council for 18 years. She is a Credentialed Prevention Professional with the Seaway Valley Prevention Council. Throughout the years Patti has worked in parenting education, prevention counseling, many community projects and she is currently a member of the Creating Cultivating Healthy Communities Coalition. The last three years, her focus has been on gambling prevention and employee assistance counseling.
Family Support Navigator
Jenny has been with the Seaway Valley Prevention Council for 15 years. She is the Family Support Navigator working with families. She also enjoys doing presentations, health fairs, and other things within the council. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Kara is the Program Assistant for Tobacco-Free St. Lawrence, Jefferson and Lewis Counties Grant at the Seaway Valley Prevention Council. Kara has a Bachelor’s degree in Community Healthy. She has been with the council for a few months. When Kara is not working, she loves to spend time with her puppy, Mila.
Reality Check Coordinator
Amber has been with the Seaway Valley Prevention Program for two years. Amber is the council’s Reality Check Coordinator that works through the Advancing Tobacco Free St. Lawrence, Jefferson and Lewis Communities Grant. Amber’s goal is to achieve a youth-led movement with the goal of exposing the truth about the tobacco industry’s manipulative marketing practices used to target teens.She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Community Health.
Community Engagement Coordinator
Chelsea is the Advancing Tobacco Free Communities Coordinator that works through the Advancing Tobacco Free St. Lawrence, Jefferson and Lewis Communities Grant based at the Seaway Valley Prevention Council. Chelsea has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Community Health. She works with the Bureau of Tobacco Control to reduce the presence of tobacco in our community. Chelsea has been with the council for three years.
Kara works with clients throughout St. Lawrence County delivering parenting education. She also focuses on employee assistance counseling. Kara has a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development. When she is not at work Kara enjoys spending time with her two sons and their dog Scout, going to the beach and traveling.
Peer Engagement Specialist
Felicia is the Peer Engagement Specialist, working with people in recovery. She also supervises the Massena Drug Free Community Coalition Coordinator and Family Support Navigator. She has worked at Seaway Valley Prevention Council for three years. Felicia has a Master’s degree in Counseling and Human Development. In her free time, she enjoys teaching fitness classes and hiking. Felicia is an Adirondack 46er.
Jenn is a Health Educator at the Seaway Valley Prevention Council. Jenn has been with the Council for two years. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Jenn’s program takes her to Gouverneur Central, Edwards-Knox and Hermon Central School for three days a week teaching youth about the dangers of drug and alcohol use. In her free time, Jenn enjoys warmer weather and watching movies.
Jenelle is a Health Educator at the Seaway Valley Prevention Council. Jenelle’s program takes her to Brasher, Lisbon and Norwood-Norfolk Central Schools to teach youth about the dangers of drug and alcohol use and violence prevention. She has a Bachelor’s in Childhood Education with a minor in Biology. She has a Master’s in Literacy. In her free time, Jenelle likes to spend time with her family and friends, read and be crafty.
Kristin is the Massena Drug Free Community Coalition Coordinator. She works with youth and adults in Massena to reduce the impact of illegal drugs in the Massena community through the development and implementation of a comprehensive integrated strategy of prevention, education, intervention, law enforcement and treatment. She has a Bachelor’s in Dietetics and a MBA. In her free time, Kristin likes to take long walks with her husband and their dogs, garden and cook.
